    The Guardian2 Site Boundary Monitor is designed to help you remain compliant with site emission levels, using remote monitoring and reporting of noise, dust and vibration levels. Powered by AC, solar or battery, the Guardian2 is ideal for any construction noise monitoring or environmental dust measurement location, no matter how remote.     Simply plug in on your site and it will begin continuous emission monitoring, it's that simple!

    The Guardian2 has Casella’s ‘mHub’ logger with a built in ‘E-sim’ simcard. The E-sim has low data costs and searches several networks to ensure the highest possible signal strength, helping to ensure good data connectivity. Data is available in real time from our secure website http://www.casella247.com/ using a private login.

    A report can be readily produced for site dust or noise compliance purposes and in addition, the system provides alerts via text message or an email should limits be exceeded. Reports can be easily automated and sent to multiple users. For example, one user can be receiving a report about pm10 monitoring dust levels, where another user can receive a report about noise risk assessment measurement levels.

    Solar Power

    The Guardian2 can be run from one or more 100W solar panels, which in turn connect to an enclosure which houses a battery. The number of solar panels required varies depending on location:

    Important suitability factors to consider at a site include:

    - Is there a suitable, safe location to mount the system and solar panels? (Theft and unwanted access to potentially hazardous voltages)

    - Can the systems solar panels face due south (in the Northern Hemisphere) or North (in the Southern Hemisphere)?

    - Will the solar panels be exposed to direct sunlight, with no risk of partial shading or obstruction (from say trees, buildings, parked vehicles etc) at any point during daylight hours? Consider especially low-level obstructions which may block direct sunlight during challenging winter months when the sun is low in the sky.

    Solar Systems are designed with sufficient battery storage capacity to maintain operation during normal periods of poor weather.

    The solar panel system consists of three main parts:

    - An enclosure to hold the battery and solar controller (Part number 208500D) – includes cable to Guardian2.

    - A battery (Part B162 ordered separately from the above enclosure) which fits in the base of enclosure 208500D.

    - The solar panel array (one to three panels), which include mounting brackets for scaffold poles and the necessary cabling to 209500D enclosure.

    Battery Power

    With a good quality 130Ah battery the Guardian2 (all sensors) will run for more than 5 days before failure. See below for typical battery lives for different Guardian2 configurations.

    The battery power system consists of the parts as described below. It is recommended that two batteries are used,  and while one is powering the enclosure, the other is being charged by a battery charger (part number CF43).

    AC with Battery Back Up

    This option combines the normal AC power but uses a battery backup in case of power loss. This can be useful if there is an intermittent AC supply on site. The AC supply continually charges the battery which in turn powers the Guardian2.

    The system consists of an enclosure (208504D) which houses the lead acid battery and control equipment to charge the battery. The Lead Acid battery is ordered separately.
